Subject: Establishment of a Motorcycle Advisory Committee
 
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would establish a Motorcycle Advisory Committee under the jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

According to a 2012 report published by the U.S. Department of Transportation, there are 419,282 motorcycles registered to Pennsylvania motorcyclists. This makes Pennsylvania the fourth highest state in motorcycle ownership.

By creating such a committee, Pennsylvania’s motorcycling community will be better situated to communicate their concerns regarding laws and policy specific to their unique set of interests. The design and function of the committee will be similar to the existing Pedalcycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee which was established in 1995 with the signing of Act 72.
