Subject: | Resolution 150 - Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Lehigh University |
Please join me in cosponsoring a Resolution in honor of the 150th Anniversary of Lehigh University. Lehigh University was founded in 1865 in Bethlehem by Asa Packer, an industrial pioneer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Today, this thriving university has 5,000 undergraduate students and 2,000 graduate students in four colleges – the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Economics, the College of Education, and the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The outstanding academic reputation of Lehigh University is known around the world. A series of events is planned to celebrate Lehigh's 150th Anniversary. The annual Founder’s Day ceremony will feature the installation of Dr. John D. Simon as Lehigh’s 14th president. A community parade will follow, with Lehigh’s Marching 97 leading the way to a Brown and White Birthday Celebration, which will feature a series of performances that will highlight Lehigh’s history with music, video, art and writings. Lehigh University has a proud history and its graduates have had a lasting impact on our Commonwealth, our nation and our world. Please join me in cosponsoring Resolution 150 to honor Lehigh University on the occasion of its 150th Anniversary. |
