Subject: Septic Smart Week Resolution
 
Over 40 percent of Pennsylvanians rely on septic systems; an natural environmentally friendly method of treating household water. However, proper maintenance of onlot septic systems is necessary to avoid tens of thousands of dollars in repair costs and accordingly, professional septic system providers and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommend periodic pumping and maintenance of these systems.

Therefore, in an effort to promote awareness of the importance of properly maintaining and servicing onlot septic systems, in the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing the week of September 21-25, 2015, as “Septic Smart Week” in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
