Subject:	Resolution - Edwin D. Hill, President of IBEW - Retirement

In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution recognizing Freedom native and President of the 725,000 member International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Edwin D. Hill, who recently announced his retirement. The Beaver County native and Freedom High School graduate began his career as a second-generation journeyman electrician and member of Beaver’s IBEW Local 712, later achieving regional distinction by becoming business manager and vice president of IBEW’s Third District covering New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. He was appointed international secretary in 1997, and was appointed to the office of international president in 2001. Ed’s tenure was marked by several groundbreaking initiatives and his heartfelt belief that the IBEW best served its members when it best served its customers. The embracing and implementation of new technologies, his overwhelmingly successful Code of Excellence program, and his implementation of a market recovery program are just a few of the initiatives that not only strengthened the IBEW, but strengthened their relationships and trust with their customers. Please join me in recognizing the achievements of this native Pennsylvanian and his contributions to, and support of, Pennsylvania’s workers.
