MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: Celebrating Turkic Cultural Day

Please join me in sponsoring a resolution to designate June 8, 2015 as Turkic Cultural Day and to recognize the valuable work of the Council of Turkic American Associations and the Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania.

On June 8th, the Council of Turkic American Associations and the Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania will be in the capitol to host their 6th Annual Turkic Cultural Day. This event showcases the rich mosaic of different cultures, religions, and ethnicities, as well as educates the legislature and visitors about the country of Turkey.

Turkey is one of the very few secular democracies in the Muslim world. As a staunch ally of the US, it has made significant contributions to United States foreign policy. Americans of Turkish origin play a significant role in the ethnic diversity of the United States by incorporating their rich spiritual and cultural heritage and their dedication to the responsibilities of good citizenship.
I encourage you to join in the festivities that will be held in the Capitol Building June 8.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution.
