Subject: | Repeal of March 26, 1903 Act Requiring Railroads and Railroad Track Under Viaducts and Bridges to Pay Maintenance Fees. |
In the near future, I will introduce legislation which repeals a redundant law from March 26, 1903 (former HB 2368 of 2013-2014). The current law requires a railroad to contribute to maintenance costs of bridges or viaducts before it can run its lines of track under the bridge or viaduct. The railroad must also enter into a contract with the municipality to continually pay a portion of ongoing maintenance fees. This legislation would repeal this entire provision of the law because this provision can be found elsewhere in other Pennsylvania Statues. Please join me in clearing up this unnecessary redundancy. Thank you for your consideration. |
Introduced as HB1200
