Subject: | Amending the Recreational Use of Land Liability Law – Former HB 2022 |
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation that would amend the state’s recreational use of land liability law. Act 586 of 1965 limits the legal liability for landowners who open their land to the public for recreational use at no charge. The law aims to encourage landowners to allow their land to be used for recreational purposes such as hunting, fishing, swimming and boating. My legislation would simply expand the definition of "recreational purpose" to include recreational activities undertaken for exercise, education, relaxation or pleasure, including snowmobiling, and ATV and motorcycle riding. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
