House of Representatives
Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 25, 2015 02:23 PM
From: Representative Tim Hennessey
To: All House members
Subject: Conviction Disclosure - EMS (Prior HB 2038 2011-12 Session)

In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation that will require prospective or current emergency medical services personnel to disclose all prior criminal or civil convictions when applying for certification or recertification.

Under the proposal, applicants for EMS certification will be required to disclose all prior criminal and civil convictions. A prior record will not necessarily prevent certification (or hiring by an EMS organization) but a willful failure to disclose such information on the application would result in an automatic disqualification from or revocation of certification.

In addition, the bill expands and details the criteria upon which the Department of Health may sanction EMS applicants for certification or recertification.
