Subject: | Departmental Efficiency Reports |
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation that will amend the Pennsylvania Administrative Code to require each executive department, board, or commission to provide an annual report to the General Assembly outlining the steps taken to streamline operations and improve efficiency and cost effectiveness. At a time when our Commonwealth is facing difficult fiscal realities, it is imperative that we take steps to ensure our use of taxpayer money is carried out in a responsible manner. I believe our Executive departments can work with the General Assembly to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government programs and activities. I believe each of us has encountered opportunities to improve areas where our departments and programs are fragmented, overlapping, or duplicative. My legislation will require each executive department, board, or commission to provide an annual report to the General Assembly one month prior to the budget deadline. Each report must outline the steps the executive department, board, or commission has taken to streamline operations and improve efficiency and cost effectiveness. I hope you will join me in sponsoring this legislation. |
