Subject: | Exemption of private, religious and home schools from PA Core Educational Standards (Previously HB 1552) |
In the near future, I will be re-introducing legislation (previously HB 1552) to exempt private, religious and home schools from PA Core educational standards. Last Session, my bill was introduced as part of a package of bills aimed at addressing concerns with the implementation of PA Core in the Commonwealth. Since that time the applicable regulations were modified to reflect the intentions of my bill. My legislation would codify those changes by statute, specifically prohibiting the State Board of Education or any other agency or instrumentality of the Commonwealth from imposing PA Core and related initiatives (such as uniform testing and expanded student data-gathering) upon private, religious or home school educational settings. Please join me in cosponsoring this piece of legislation. Previous cosponsors include: LAWRENCE, TALLMAN, KAUFFMAN, BARRAR, GILLEN, MUSTIO, SACCONE, METCALFE, McGINNIS, DENLINGER, MALONEY, C.
