| Subject: | Proposed Legislation - "Fair Health Care Provider Contracting Act" (Formerly HB 2190) |
In the near future, I plan to introduce the “Fair Health Care Provider Contracting Act.” This legislation will enact fair contracting standards for physicians so that they can make informed decisions when contracting with the Pennsylvania Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans and their affiliates. The contents of my legislation contain the key policies contained in several national legal settlement agreements reached by each of the four Blues plans in the Commonwealth with Pennsylvania physicians. This legislation will codify those important contractual revisions so that the Blues plans will continue to abide by the provisions they have agreed to under court settlement. Additionally, because these reforms have already been implemented by the Blues plans, there should be little if any additional costs or administrative difficulties associated with this legislation. This legislation was previously introduced in the 2013-2014 legislative session as HB 2190. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation. |
