| Subject: | Cosponsor memo – Small Games of Chance permitting card games |
| In the near future I plan to reintroduce legislation that will give licensed organizations under the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act to have social card games on their premise. My legislation will set forth the rules and regulations on the games and set restrictions on what specific games can be played, how many players are allowed, the time the games can be played and the prize amounts. This language is identical to the language included in House Bill 290, which passed the House by a vote of 186-10 on Feb 13, 2013. However, the Senate removed the language relating to social card games when the bill came back to the House for concurrence. I have been contacted by a number of small social groups that cannot get a location to play because even social, low stakes poker is illegal. I hope you will join me again in allowing a fun poker game between friends to occur. |
