Session of 2015 - 2016 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 2, 2015 12:23 PM
From: Representative Thomas P. Murt
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution Honoring John Patrick Stanton (Prior HR 960)

In the near future, I plan to reintroduce a House Resolution recognizing the life and work of John Patrick Stanton, who passed away on January 31, 2014.

John Patrick Stanton became involved in the pro-life movement in Pennsylvania beginning in 1969. Mr. Stanton founded the Pro-Life Coalition of Southeast Pennsylvania, now the Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia, in 1971 and later established the state-wide Pro-Life Federation. He also co-founded the Pro-Life Educational Foundation and was treasurer for the Pennsylvania branch of the National Right to Life Committee.

Mr. Stanton worked with the General Assembly to secure the passage of legislation to strengthen Pennsylvania’s laws regarding abortions and he also assisted in the establishment of Pennsylvania’s Choose Life license plate program, which has raised thousands of dollars for crisis pregnancy centers in the Commonwealth.

Mr. Stanton was a loving and devoted husband, as well as a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather to their 12 children, 46 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Please join me in honoring John Patrick Stanton for his contributions to this Commonwealth. Thank you for your interest and support.
