Subject: | Public Officials and Employee Ethics Act, former HB 1670 |
Please join me in cosponsoring this bill that will amend Title 65, section 1109 and will help restore the faith that people should have in their government. Amending Section 1109 to increase the maximum penalty for failure to file a statement of financial interests to $2,000 at a rate of $25 a day. This legislation will increase the maximum penalty for failure to file a statement of financial interests to $2,000 at a rate of not more than $25 each business day such statement remains delinquent of deficient. As elected officials and public servants at all levels, we must hold ourselves to the most rigorous measures of behavior and morality in order to earn and keep the trust of the citizenry. Our actions and those of our employees reflect not only on us, but on the people that we represent. We should strive not only to reduce corruption, but the perception of it. |
