Subject:	Amending the Public Official and Employees Ethics Act

As elected officials and public servants at all levels, we must hold ourselves to the most rigorous measures of behavior and morality in order to earn and keep the trust of the citizenry. Our actions and those of our employees reflect not only on us, but on the people that we represent. We should strive not only to reduce corruption, but the perception of it. In the near future, I will be re-introducing legislation that will prohibit the acceptance of transportation, lodging, hospitality or anything of economic value as a gift, excluding the exemptions specifically enumerated in the Bill. This will help restore trust and confidence in government.
