Subject: Legislative Nonprofit Organizations (Former HB 670)
 
During the 2009-10 Session the House of Representatives took an important first step by amending its operating rules to set parameters for the establishment and operation of legislative nonprofit organizations. However, these are only operating rules which expire at the end of each legislative session. In addition, these rules do not apply to members of the state Senate.

Therefore, I am proposing an amendment to already existing law, the legislative Code of Ethics, Act 154 of 1968 to place the provisions of our rule into law. In that way, the good work we have done will apply to all members of the General Assembly and it will be a permanent rule.
