Subject: November 2014 COPD Awareness Month
 

In the near future, I plan to introduce a House Resolution recognizing November 2014 as “Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Awareness Month” in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) affects over 24 million individuals in the United States, killing more than 140,000 Americans every year. It affected an estimated 714,000 Pennsylvanians in 2013 and is the 4th leading cause of death in the Commonwealth.

Therefore, I am introducing this resolution in hope that it will increase awareness across the Commonwealth about this disease.
