Subject: | Ban the use of the drug Zohydro in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation to ban the use of Zohydro in Pennsylvania. Zohydro, is a pure formulation of hydrocodone that is not diluted, is not tamper resistant and contains five to ten times more of the heroin-like opioid than any drug produced. It was recently approved by the FDA against the recommendations of its own medical advisory board. Highly addictive, Zohydro is at great risk for misuse, abuse and diversion. I plan to include Zohydro in Schedule I of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetics Act until such time as the manufacturer reformulates the drug to be tamper resistant. Drugs on this list have no medical use and are forbidden to be sold for any legal reason. Fatal drug overdoses have risen dramatically in the recent past and without action to protect the public, Zohydro will surely contribute to more deadly overdoses. |
Introduced as HB2203
