Subject: Resolution to Urge Congress and the President to Immediately Enact Legislation to Exempt Volunteer Fire, Rescue and EMS Companies from the Affordable Care Act
 

In the near future, I will be introducing a Resolution which urges Congress and the President to exempt volunteer fire, rescue and EMS departments from the Affordable Care Act. It is estimated that 97% of firefighters across Pennsylvania are volunteer. Subjecting these “volunteers” to the employer mandate under the Affordable Care Act, will place a huge financial burden on both the volunteer fire, rescue and EMS departments, as well as our local municipalities.
