Subject: | Resolution Recognizing October 16, 2013, as “National Feral Cat Day” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution recognizing October 16, 2013, as “National Feral Cat Day” in Pennsylvania. On October 16, 2001, Alley Cat Allies, a national organization concerned with the welfare of cats, established the first National Feral Cat Day. This proclamation was made to draw attention to the plight of stray and feral cats. Since its inception, the campaign has expanded to include events in cities and states throughout the country. National Feral Cat Day encourages individuals to get involved in efforts to more humanely control the stray and feral cat populations in their neighborhoods. These efforts include traditional spay and neuter clinics for cats, as well as programs to capture, neuter, and return feral cats to their communities. If you would like to co-sponsor this legislation or have any questions, please contact Tajuanna Franklin at 717-783-9342 or TFranklin@pahouse.net. |
