MEMORANDUM

From: Representative Jordan A. Harris and Rep. Keith J. Greiner
To: All House members
Subject: Condolence Resolution honoring the life and memory of Dr. William H. Duncan

In the near future, we intend to introduce a condolence resolution honoring the life and memory of Dr. William H. Duncan, former Millersville State College President from 1968 to 1981.

Remembered as a great man, full of wisdom and compassion, William H. Duncan held a 46 year association with Millersville State College (now Millersville University). While at the University, Dr. Duncan held such positions as the Director of Admissions, Registrar, Acting Dean of Instruction, and Dean of Student Affairs, prior to his appointment as President.

In addition to his service at the University, Dr. Duncan was a World War II veteran, an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millersville, and served on the boards of many civic and community organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, Danforth Foundation, Sico Foundation, the United Way, Parish Resource Center, Urban League, American Heart Association and the YWCA. Dr. Duncan was also a past President of the Millersville University Alumni Association and served as a Life Director of the Millersville University Foundation.

Dr. Duncan had a firm dedication to his community and Millersville University. Sadly, Dr. Duncan passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 3, 2013. In honor of Dr. William H. Duncan’s profound contributions to Millersville University, our Commonwealth, and country, we ask that you join us in co-sponsoring this resolution to express our profound sorrow over Dr. Duncan’s passing, and extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
