SPEAKER K. LEROY IRVIS AND NORTH OFFICE BUILDING - DESIGNATION AND USE
                 Act of Dec. 30, 2002, P.L. 2088, No. 236             Cl. 71
                                  AN ACT

     Providing for the designation and use of certain State office
        buildings; and making a repeal.

        The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     hereby enacts as follows:

     Section 1.  South Office Building.
        (a)  Designation.--The South Office Building in the City of
     Harrisburg is designated as, and shall be referred to as, the
     Speaker K. Leroy Irvis Office Building.
        (b)  Use.--The use of the Speaker K. Leroy Irvis Office
     Building in the City of Harrisburg is hereby granted to the
     General Assembly. The Bi-Partisan Management Committee of the
     House of Representatives shall allocate and reallocate the space
     for such legislative and judicial purposes as it deems
     necessary. The space currently utilized by the Commonwealth
     Court shall become available for allocation by the committee
     upon the court's relocation to and occupation of space in the
     Pennsylvania Judicial Center.
     Section 2.  North Office Building.
        The use of the North Office Building in the City of
     Harrisburg is hereby granted to the General Assembly. The
     President pro tempore of the Senate shall, after consultation
     with the Committee on Management Operations of the Senate,
     allocate and reallocate space for such legislative purposes as
     he deems appropriate. The Department of General Services and the
     Department of State may continue to use such space in the North
     Office Building as the departments are using as of the effective
     date of this section. If the Department of General Services or
     the Department of State vacates its space in the North Office
     Building, the use of the space shall be transferred to the
     General Assembly for use in accordance with this section.
     Hearing rooms in the North Office Building formerly utilized by
     the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission shall be available
     for use by the committees of both the Senate and the House of
     Representatives and the executive branch departments located in
     the building.
     Section 3.  Repeal.
        The act of April 6, 1980 (P.L.104, No.40), entitled "An act
     providing for the use of the South Office Building by the
     General Assembly," is repealed.
     Section 4.  Effective date.
        This act shall take effect immediately.
