AN ACT
Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in Department of Military Affairs,
providing for chief counsel.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 51 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
§ 714. Chief counsel.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the chief counsel
of the department must be or must have been sworn in and
certified as a judge advocate under 10 U.S.C. § 827(b) (relating
to detail of trial counsel and defense counsel) for not less
than five years and in good standing.
Section 2. The addition of 51 Pa.C.S. § 714 shall apply to a
chief counsel of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs
of the Commonwealth selected on or after the effective date of
this section.
Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
