AN ACT
Amending Title 61 (Prisons and Parole) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in visitation, providing for personal
visitation; and making an editorial change.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Subchapter A heading of Chapter 35 and section
3503 of Title 61 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are
amended to read:
SUBCHAPTER A
[(Reserved)] PERSONAL VISITATION
ยง 3503. [(Reserved).] Visitation rights.
(a) Personal visits.--Except as provided under this title,
the following shall apply to visitation within a correctional
institution:
(1) The correctional institution shall permit each
inmate to meet with visitors in person at least twice per
week.

(2) The correctional institution shall permit at least
three individuals to attend each visit provided under
paragraph (1).
(3) The correctional institution shall permit the inmate
to meet with a visitor under paragraph (1) for no less than
one hour.
(b) Video visitation.--Subsection (a) may not be construed
to limit the use of video visitation, which shall be permitted
in addition to the two visits per week provided under subsection
(a).
(c) Exceptions.--This section shall not apply:
(1) during a lockdown of the correctional institution
due to a health or safety emergency; or
(2) to an inmate who is not eligible to receive
visitation due to the inmate's disciplinary status.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
