AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in high schools, further providing
for courses of study.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1605 of the act of March 10, 1949
(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
amended by adding a subsection to read:
Section 1605. Courses of Study.--* * *
(e) Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, during one or
more of the last four years of any complete high school program,
a course of study in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) shall
be included as follows:
(1) Completion of a training course, including the testing
of skills and knowledge, shall be documented by the signature
and title of a representative of the training entity and shall

include the date the training course was completed.
(2) Completion of a training course may be integrated in the
health education curriculum provided under 22 Pa. Code ยง 4.23(c)
(8) (relating to high school education).
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
