A RESOLUTION
Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Wing of the
Civil Air Patrol and designating June 12, 2018, as
"Pennsylvania Wing Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Senate takes great pride in recognizing
organizations which, through adherence to the highest standards
of volunteer service, contribute in a meaningful way toward a
better and more productive society; and
WHEREAS, The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and its Pennsylvania Wing
are celebrating the momentous occasion of the 70th anniversary
of CAP's designation as the official auxiliary of the United
States Air Force by the Congress of the United States; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Wing has pursued its three
congressionally chartered missions of aerospace education, cadet
programs and emergency services with excellence in this
Commonwealth since December 1, 1941, and continues to do so
today; and
WHEREAS, CAP fulfills its role as the newest member of the

United States Air Force's total force through vital services,
which include assisting with aerial intercept and unmanned
aerial vehicle training, disaster relief aerial reconnaissance
and search and rescue; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Wing has more than 1,800 citizen
volunteers in 45 squadrons across this Commonwealth who respond
to disasters, help teachers and students with aerospace-related
science, technology, engineering and mathematics educational
resources and provide youths with the opportunity to develop
strong ethical character, leadership and self-confidence that
will allow them to excel as adults and citizens in their chosen
professions; and
WHEREAS, CAP cadets adhere to their cadet oath which
concludes with their pledge to "...advance my education and
training rapidly to prepare myself to be of service to my
community, state and nation"; and
WHEREAS, CAP cadet and senior members adhere to the CAP core
values of integrity, volunteer service, excellence and respect;
and
WHEREAS, Cadet and senior members of the Pennsylvania Wing
CAP are gathering at the Capitol on June 12, 2018, to celebrate
their achievements and communicate plans for future service;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate celebrate the 70th anniversary of
the Pennsylvania Wing of the Civil Air Patrol and designate June
12, 2018, as "Pennsylvania Wing Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the Senate join with the Pennsylvania Wing of
the Civil Air Patrol as it celebrates the joyous occasion of the
Civil Air Patrol's 70th anniversary as the official auxiliary of

the United States Air Force and extend warmest wishes for a
future replete with ever-increasing success in volunteer service
to the Commonwealth, its communities and our nation; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the Senate transmit a copy of this resolution
to the Pennsylvania Wing Civil Air Patrol Headquarters, Building
3-108 Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pennsylvania 17003.
