A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of May 20 through 26, 2018, as "Emergency
Medical Services Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Emergency medical services are a vital public
service; and
WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams are
ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a
day, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, Access to quality emergency care dramatically
improves the survival and recovery rates of those who experience
sudden illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, The emergency medical services system consists of
emergency physicians, emergency nurses, rescue personnel,
emergency medical technicians, advanced emergency medical
technicians, paramedics, prehospital nurses, prehospital
physician extenders, air medical personnel, emergency medical
responders, emergency vehicle operators, firefighters, police

officers, educators, dispatchers, administrators and others; and
WHEREAS, The career members and volunteer members of
emergency medical services teams engage in thousands of hours of
specialized training and continuing education to enhance their
lifesaving skills; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of May 20
through 26, 2018, as "Emergency Medical Services Week" in
Pennsylvania to recognize the value and accomplishments of
emergency medical services providers; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the theme for "Emergency Medical Services
Week" is EMS Strong: "Stronger Together"; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate encourage the residents of this
Commonwealth to observe "Emergency Medical Services Week" with
appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.
