A RESOLUTION
Designating May 9 through 13, 2018, as "The Wall That Heals
Days" at the Pennsylvania State Capitol.
WHEREAS, From May 9 through 13, 2018, the Pennsylvania State
Capitol will host the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund's "The Wall
That Heals;" and
WHEREAS, The Wall That Heals is a 375-foot, chevron-shaped
replica of the original Vietnam Veterans' Memorial located on
the National Mall in Washington, DC, and as on The Wall, the
names on The Wall That Heals are listed by day of casualty; and
WHEREAS, The Wall That Heals travels across the United
States, reminding us of the lives of the 58,202 Americans, our
relatives, friends and neighbors, that were lost in Vietnam; and
WHEREAS, Since its dedication, The Wall That Heals has
visited more than 600 cities and towns throughout the nation,
preserving the memories of the Vietnam Era and spreading the
Memorial's healing legacy to millions; and

WHEREAS, The Wall That Heals exhibition features a mobile
Education Center which helps to tell the story of the Vietnam
War, The Wall and the era surrounding the conflict as well as to
put the American experiences in Vietnam in a historical and
cultural context; and
WHEREAS, The names of the more than 3,142 Pennsylvanians who
perished while serving in Vietnam are enshrined on the wall; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania General Assembly recognizes the
importance of the sacrifices of those Pennsylvanians and their
families; and
WHEREAS, On May 9, 2018, The Wall That Heals will be welcomed
to Pennsylvania at a special ceremony attended by Vietnam
veterans, executive branch officials and State legislators; and
WHEREAS, During the wall's five-day visit to the Pennsylvania
State Capitol, it will be accessible for public visitation 24-
hours per day in the lawn in front of the K. Leroy Irvis Office
Building of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate May 9 through 13, 2018,
as "The Wall That Heals Days" at the Pennsylvania State Capitol.
