A RESOLUTION
Recognizing May 11, 2018, as "Military Spouse Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Since the early days of the Continental Army, the
spouses of members of the armed forces have made unselfish
contributions to the well-being of their husbands and wives who
serve in uniform and the general welfare of their communities;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, as the number of married men
and women in uniform has grown and as their military missions
have become more complex, their spouses have made countless
personal sacrifices to support the armed forces; and
WHEREAS, In 1984, President Ronald Reagan created "Military
Spouse Day" in recognition of the importance of spouse
commitment to the soldiers and military communities; and
WHEREAS, Military spouses often endure long separations from
their loved ones; and
