A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and mourning the loss of Dallas Green, whose
life greatly benefited all those who lived, played and worked
with him.
WHEREAS, Dallas Green had an illustrious 62-year career in
various player and executive roles in Major League Baseball,
spending 46 of those years with the Philadelphia Phillies; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Green passed away on March 22, 2017, at 82 years
of age; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Green believed in teaching the fundamentals and
maintaining the integrity of the game; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Green posted a record of 169 wins and 130 losses
as the General Manager of the Phillies and led the team to the
franchise's first World Series victory in 1980; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Green later managed the Chicago Cubs, New York
Yankees and New York Mets and most recently served as a senior
advisor to the last four Phillies general managers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Green represented many things to many people,

among them a beloved family man, dedicated worker and avowed
community steward who gave of his heart and time to enhance the
quality of life of his family and his community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Green's inspiring presence and genuine love for
his family and friends will live long in the hearts and memories
of the many individuals whose lives he touched; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate honor the life and mourn the loss
of Dallas Green, whose life greatly benefited all those who
lived, played and worked with him, and extend heartfelt
condolences to his wife of 59 years, Sylvia Green, his four
children, five grandchildren and his many other family members
and friends.
