A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of March 2017 as "Irish American Heritage
Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, On March 17, 2017, the Irish community in this
Commonwealth is celebrating the feast of the glorious Apostle of
Ireland, Saint Patrick; and
WHEREAS, Fleeing political, religious and racial persecution
in their homeland, Irish immigrants arrived on our shores
penniless and unwanted, yet filled with hope that America held a
future in which they and their children would enjoy the
bountiful fruits of a nation founded upon the principles of
liberty and justice for all; and
WHEREAS, In every phase of our national history, Irish
Americans have taken their place at the forefront in the
political, economic, religious, social and artistic fields; and
WHEREAS, Their contribution to the welfare of this
Commonwealth is immeasurable and unflinching; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of March 2017

as "Irish American Heritage Month" in Pennsylvania and extend
its felicitations and best wishes to the Irish community in this
Commonwealth on this occasion; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be forwarded to The
Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick's Day Observance
Association.
