A RESOLUTION
Congratulating the Philadelphia Eagles on their Super Bowl LII
win on February 4, 2018, against the New England Patriots.
WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Eagles finished the 2017-2018
regular season as the NFC East Division Champions with a record
of 13 wins and 3 losses, clinching the home field advantage by
being the number one seed in the NFC; and
WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Minnesota Vikings
38-7 in the NFC Championship game on January 21, 2018, to earn
their spot in Super Bowl LII; and
WHEREAS, On February 4, 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles won
Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, Minnesota, under the guidance of
their second-year Head Coach, Doug Pederson, against the AFC

number one seeded New England Patriots, with their five-time
Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady; and
WHEREAS, The Eagles were considered underdogs for much of the
postseason due to a season-ending injury to their starting
quarterback, Carson Wentz, late in the regular season, as well
as multiple other injuries to starting players; and
WHEREAS, Backup quarterback Nick Foles stepped in to finish
the season, started in Super Bowl LII and threw for 373 yards
and three touchdowns; and
WHEREAS, Nick Foles was named Super Bowl LII MVP and became
the first player to ever throw for and catch a touchdown pass in
a Super Bowl; and
WHEREAS, Multiple players contributed to the win with a total
of five touchdowns in Super Bowl LII, including Nick Foles, Trey
Burton, LeGarrette Blount, Corey Clement, Alshon Jeffery and
Zach Ertz, who caught the game-winning touchdown pass; and
WHEREAS, Rookie Kicker Jake Elliott made three out of three
field goals, with his longest kick being 46 yards, which
extended the lead late in the fourth quarter; and
WHEREAS, The Eagles accumulated 538 total yards of offense,
which contributed to a Super Bowl record of 1,151 total combined
yards by two teams; and
WHEREAS, The Eagles clinched the Super Bowl victory over the
New England Patriots with a score of 41-33, bringing the most
passionate fan base in the NFL a thrilling victory; and
WHEREAS, The Eagles have previously played in the Super Bowl
three times but this is their first Super Bowl victory and
parade down Broad Street in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, The Eagles have proven their ability to overcome
adversity and to continually succeed as a team; therefore be it
