A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of June 2017 as "Corrections Officers and
Employees Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees form the backbone
of the correctional system of this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees face the
possibility of harm every day they report for work; and
WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees are charged with
the care, custody and control of our prison population and, as
such, are the first professionals involved in the rehabilitation
of incarcerated persons; and
WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees are actively
involved in their communities through volunteer service and
civic participation; and
WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees continue to work
effectively with prison officials to create well-run

correctional facilities, foster teamwork and support an
effective detention system; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
month of June 2017 as "Corrections Officers and Employees Month"
in Pennsylvania in recognition of the valuable contributions of
these fine professionals.
