A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of May 2017, as "Junior Achievement Month"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement is the world's largest
organization dedicated to educating students about work force
readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through
experiential, hands-on programs; and
WHEREAS, More than 6,000 business, community and parent
volunteers touch the lives of more than 200,000 students each
year in kindergarten through grade 12 in public and private
school systems in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement's message of hope and prosperity
for the future helps prepare students to be the workers, leaders
and educated consumers of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement programs help prepare young

people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth
and effectively manage it, how to create jobs that make their
communities more robust and how to apply entrepreneurial
thinking to the workplace; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement empowers young people to own
their economic success; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement believes in the boundless
potential of young people; is committed to the principles of
market-based economics and entrepreneurship; is passionate about
what its volunteers do, while practicing honesty, integrity and
excellence; respects the talents, creativity, perspectives and
backgrounds of all individuals; believes in the power of
partnership and collaboration and has conviction in the
educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on
learning; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement sustains our democracy by
strengthening communities with proven programs that focus on
work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy; and
WHEREAS, In 2017, Junior Achievement commemorates the 78th
anniversary of its founding in this Commonwealth; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
month of May 2017, as "Junior Achievement Month" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
Dennis Gilfoyle, Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania,
5001 Centre Avenue #2, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
