A RESOLUTION
Designating March 2, 2017, as "Explore York County Tourism Day"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The York County Convention and Visitors Bureau
(YCCVB) is the official tourist promotion agency for York County
and is accredited by Destination Marketing Association
International; and
WHEREAS, The YCCVB actively markets York County to leisure
travelers, meeting and convention planners, group tour
operators, sports and tournament organizers and the media; and
WHEREAS, York County is known as the factory tour capital of
the world, offering 20 factory tours year-round; and
WHEREAS, York County is also known as the snack food capital
of the world, with several snack food manufacturers, including
Utz Quality Foods and Martin's Potato Chips, operating in the
county; and
WHEREAS, York County's Mason-Dixon Wine Trail was named "One

of the Best Wine Regions You've Never Heard of" by Budget Travel
Online; and
WHEREAS, In 2012, Travel + Leisure cited York County as
having one of "America's Greatest Main Streets"; and
WHEREAS, Visitors spent more than $923.1 million in York
County in 2014; and
WHEREAS, The York County tourism industry employs 7,637
people; and
WHEREAS, Since 2001, the YCCVB has contributed more than $3
million in tourist development funding to organizations in the
York County area; and
WHEREAS, York County is ranked 10th in the State in economic
impact from tourism expenditures; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives supports and honors
organizations such as the YCCVB which seek to promote
Pennsylvania's unique assets and attractions; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate March
2, 2017, as "Explore York County Tourism Day" in Pennsylvania.
