AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in school health services, providing
for student access to cardiopulmonary resuscitation training
courses.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
section to read:
Section 1425. Student Access to Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation Training Courses.-- (a) Beginning with the 2018-
2019 school year, at least once a semester each school entity
shall provide students in grades nine through twelve with
information regarding local training courses in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation offered by any of the following:
(1) The American Red Cross.
(2) The American Heart Association.

(3) A local emergency management agency.
(4) Any other certifying agency approved by the Department
of Health.
(b) The information provided under subsection (a) shall
include all of the following for each training course:
(1) Name of the certifying agency offering the training
course.
(2) Address where the training course is to be held.
(3) Dates and times of the training course.
(4) Contact information for the training course.
(5) Cost of participation in the training course.
(c) A school entity may satisfy the requirements of
subsection (a) by making a training course in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation available to students on school premises annually.
(d) A school entity may charge students a fee for the cost
of participation in the training course offered under subsection
(c).
(e) As used in this section, the term "school entity" means
a school district, an area vocational-technical school, an
intermediate unit, a regional charter school or a charter
school.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
