AN ACT
Amending the act of July 20, 1979 (P.L.183, No.60), entitled "An
act regulating the terms and conditions of certain leases
regarding natural gas and oil," further providing for
definitions.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1.2 of the act of July 20, 1979 (P.L.183,
No.60), known as the Oil and Gas Lease Act, is amended by adding
definitions to read:
Section 1.2. Definitions.
The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
context clearly indicates otherwise:

"Royalty." A lessor's ownership interest in the oil, natural
gas or gas of any other designation produced from below a
specific tract of real property, which interest is valued at the
wellhead free of expenses of production and transportation.
"Wellhead." The point at which oil, natural gas or gas of

any other designation reaches the ground surface or departs from
the subject real property for which a lease or other such
agreement conveys from the lessor to the lessee the right to
remove or recover oil, natural gas or gas of any other
designation.
Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
