A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the 20th anniversary of the Council for a Strong
America's Fight Crime: Invest in Kids organization and
congratulating the organization's members for their lasting
contributions towards a safer, prosperous future.
WHEREAS, The Council for a Strong America is a national,
bipartisan, nonprofit organization that unites the Fight Crime:
Invest in Kids organization, the Mission: Readiness
organization, the ReadyNation organization, the Shepherding the
Next Generation organization and the Champions for America's
Future organization in an effort to strengthen families,
communities, the economy and national security; and
WHEREAS, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, with a membership of
more than 5,000 nationwide, was founded in 1996; and
WHEREAS, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids has collaborated with
Pennsylvania's police chiefs, sheriffs, district attorneys and
other law enforcement leaders for more than 20 years to promote
policies that protect public safety through evidence-based
investments in children and families; and

WHEREAS, As a result of the efforts of Fight Crime: Invest in
Kids, its membership has grown from a small group of
Pennsylvania law enforcement leaders to approximately 200 law
enforcement leaders from all corners of this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids' members are a leading
voice for investments in proven crime-prevention initiatives,
such as high-quality prekindergarten, voluntary home visiting
for vulnerable families, assistance in accessing high-quality
child care for working families, juvenile diversion programs and
after-school programs; and
WHEREAS, Front-end crime prevention investments in children
and families yield tremendous cost-savings benefits for the
taxpayers of this Commonwealth in the form of reduced
corrections, social services and other spending and should be
considered as part of a comprehensive crime prevention strategy;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the 20th anniversary of
the Council for a Strong America's Fight Crime: Invest in Kids
organization and congratulate the organization's members for
their lasting contributions towards a safer, prosperous future.
