skills pay higher wages than jobs that require little education
and few skills; and
WHEREAS, Earnings increase significantly as a worker's degree
of education rises; and
WHEREAS, Ninety percent of new jobs in growing industries
with high wages will require some postsecondary education; and
WHEREAS, Students who graduate from high school having
experienced meaningful career planning and development have the
knowledge, skills and attitudes sought by employers, are
qualified for high-paying, in-demand jobs and are better
prepared to contribute to a stable, world-class work force for
Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, The Capital Region Partnership for Career
Development collaborates with many businesses, organizations and
State agencies to provide students with career exploration
experiences, programs and resources that help them become
knowledgeable about traditional, nontraditional and emerging
postsecondary educational opportunities and career paths; and
WHEREAS, Schools and educators need support from the Capital
Region Partnership for Career Development and other
organizations to maintain adequate and effective career
development programs, as well as support for employer networking
and teacher training to expand their knowledge of evolving
career opportunities for students; and
WHEREAS, The Capital Region Partnership for Career
Development recognizes the critical need for schools, employers,
postsecondary institutions and various community and government
agencies to collaborate on work force development to ensure
career success for the youth of Pennsylvania; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize November 16, 2016, as
