A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the holiday beginning with Rosh Hashanah and
concluding with Yom Kippur.
WHEREAS, Sundown on Sunday, October 2, 2016, is the beginning
of the Jewish New Year, 5777; and
WHEREAS, The holiday begins with Rosh Hashanah and concludes
with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, on Wednesday, October 12,
2016; and
WHEREAS, During this period of the High Holy Days, Jewish
residents of this Commonwealth devote 10 days to repentance,
asking God for forgiveness for their sins and renewing their
commitment to doing that which is right; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has a large and vibrant Jewish
community that has made outstanding contributions to this
Commonwealth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate join with the Jewish community in
celebrating the sound of the shofar, proclaiming the New Year
and wishing the Jewish community "L'shanah tovah," a happy and
