A RESOLUTION
Designating June 24, 2016, as "Remember Everyone Deployed Friday
(Red Friday)" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Groups have advocated the wearing of red on Fridays
to show their support for all members of the armed forces
abroad; and
WHEREAS, "Red Friday" was designed as an opportunity for red-
blooded Americans to demonstrate their support of the troops who
are deployed; and
WHEREAS, Friday has commonly been designated the day of the
week to wear the color red for all servicemen and servicewomen
who are deployed; and
WHEREAS, It is imperative that we acknowledge those who are
missing in action; and
WHEREAS, According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency,
as of January 2016, more than 83,000 Americans remain missing
from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold
War, the Gulf Wars and other conflicts; and

WHEREAS, Out of the 83,000 missing, 75% are presumed to be in
the Asia-Pacific region; and
WHEREAS, More than 41,000 of the missing are presumed lost at
sea; and
WHEREAS, On "Red Friday" and throughout the year, we honor
the commitment these servicemen and servicewomen have made to
their country; and
WHEREAS, We honor all Pennsylvania and American servicemen
and servicewomen and their families for their service and
sacrifice; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate June 24, 2016, as
"Remember Everyone Deployed Friday (Red Friday)" in Pennsylvania
and encourage all Pennsylvanians to wear red on that date.
