A RESOLUTION
Designating May 6, 2016, as "Military Spouse Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Since the early days of the Continental Army, the
wives of servicemen have made unselfish contributions to the
well-being of their fighting husbands and the general welfare of
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, as the number of married men
and women in uniform has grown and as their military missions
have become more complex, their spouses have made countless
personal sacrifices to support the armed forces; and
WHEREAS, In 1984, President Ronald Reagan created "Military
Spouse Day" in recognition of the importance of spouse
commitment to the soldiers and military communities; and
WHEREAS, Military spouses often endure long separations from
their loved ones; and
WHEREAS, Military spouses are left to single-handedly take
care of their children and homes, as well as their careers; and
