A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of January 31 through February 6, 2016, as
"Pennsylvania Young Farmers' Association Week" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Young Farmers' Association was
founded in 1949 and is this Commonwealth's chapter of the
National Young Farmer Educational Association; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the association is to educate and
promote this Commonwealth's largest industry, the agriculture
industry; and
WHEREAS, This year, the association, with 26 local chapters
across this Commonwealth, will hold its 56th annual winter
conference in Reading, Berks County; and
WHEREAS, The association provides instructions to farmers in
their local communities regarding environmentally appropriate
production, marketing and processing of food, feed and fiber;
and
WHEREAS, The association works closely with other
agricultural organizations and other business and service
industries to increase cooperation and learning opportunities;

WHEREAS, The association is committed to promoting
agricultural education in the public school system and education
among all age groups; and
WHEREAS, The association plays an important leadership role
in promoting community relations between consumers and the
agricultural community on common concerns and issues; and
WHEREAS, The association is an important vehicle for
systematic, effective, adult instruction in agriculture and a
forum for leadership development among agriculturists of all
ages for local government and agricultural and nonagricultural
businesses and organizations; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of January 31
through February 6, 2016, as "Pennsylvania Young Farmers'
Association Week" in Pennsylvania.
