A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of October 18 through 24, 2015, as
"National Chemistry Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, "National Chemistry Week" is an annual event
designated to raise awareness of the importance of chemistry in
everyday life and 2015 marks the 28th anniversary of "National
Chemistry Week"; and
WHEREAS, The mission of "National Chemistry Week" is to reach
the public, particularly elementary and secondary school
children, with positive messages about chemistry; and
WHEREAS, The American Chemical Society coordinates "National
Chemistry Week" each year, and it is designed to be a community-
based program that unites the local sections of the society with
schools, businesses and individuals in communicating the
importance of chemistry to our quality of life; and
WHEREAS, More than 96% of all manufactured goods are directly
touched by chemistry, making chemistry an essential part of
every facet of this nation's economy; and

WHEREAS, The business of chemistry is a significant
contributor to the economy of this Commonwealth, employing
nearly 47,000 people; and
WHEREAS, Chemistry is intimately involved in our perception
and creation of color, and this year's theme, "Chemistry Colors
Our World," will celebrate that involvement by exploring the
chemistry of dyes, pigments and light; and
WHEREAS, The evolving science of chemistry is essential to
this Commonwealth's industry and the well-being of the residents
of this Commonwealth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of October 18
through 24, 2015, as "National Chemistry Week" in Pennsylvania.
