A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of April 19 through 25, 2015, as "National
Crime Victims' Rights Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Though crime rates have fallen steadily over the
past few decades, each year approximately 22 million Americans
are victimized by crime; and
WHEREAS, In the United States Department of Justice, the
Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) was established to enhance the
capacity to assist crime victims and to promote justice and
healing for all victims of crimes; and
WHEREAS, Each April, the OVC leads communities nationwide in
observing "National Crime Victims' Rights Week"; and
WHEREAS, The theme for this year's "National Crime Victims'
Rights Week" is "Engaging Communities. Empowering Victims."
which emphasizes the role of the entire community in supporting
victims of crime and empowering them to direct their own
recovery; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of April 19
through 25, 2015, as "National Crime Victims' Rights Week" in
