A RESOLUTION
Recognizing 2015 as the "Year of the Law Enforcement Officer" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The men and women of law enforcement put their lives
on the line on a daily basis to protect the safety and welfare
of our great Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Increasingly, the very officers who have sworn to
protect our residents have found themselves under attack; and
WHEREAS, According to the National Law Enforcement Officers
Memorial Fund, 126 law enforcement officers died in the line of
duty in 2014, which is a 24% increase from 2013; and
WHEREAS, The recent ambush-style attacks on two Pennsylvania
State Police Troopers in Blooming Grove, Pennsylvania, and two
New York Police Department officers in New York City, New York,
have violently demonstrated that law enforcement officers are
being marked for attack; and
WHEREAS, It takes a courageous person to do what members of

law enforcement do every day when they put that badge on their
chest, and it is proper that we honor the sacrifices that they
and their families make to keep us safe; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize 2015 as the "Year of the
Law Enforcement Officer" in Pennsylvania.
