A RESOLUTION
Directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to
conduct a comprehensive study of work force investment
programs of the Commonwealth.
WHEREAS, The work force investment system of the Commonwealth
is comprised of multiple programs housed in various State
government agencies, including the Department of Labor and
Industry, the Department of Education, the Department of
Community and Economic Development, the Department of Human
Services, the Department of Aging and the Department of
Corrections; and
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth currently spends in excess of $650
million of Federal and State funds on work force investment
initiatives; and
WHEREAS, The taxpayers and workers of this Commonwealth
rightfully deserve to have the most robust, innovative,
successful and cost-effective work force investment system
possible; and
WHEREAS, Anecdotal evidence suggests that this Commonwealth's
