A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the 70th anniversary of The Silver Academy and
honoring the great works of Rabbi David L. Silver and the
school's faculty, staff, students and alumni.
WHEREAS, Seventy years ago Rabbi David L. Silver began the
Yeshiva Academy in Harrisburg at a time when there was much
uncertainty for the Jewish people around the world; and
WHEREAS, Rabbi David L. Silver understood that investing in
education and the progress of our children was the best strategy
for ensuring a future for the Jewish people; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Academy was established to advance
traditional Jewish education; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Academy now welcomes children from all
spectrums of the Jewish faith, providing a nurturing environment
for the development of critical thinking skills, a passion for
knowledge, a love of Israel and a sincere desire to contribute
to the community, the Jewish people and the greater society; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Academy's unique philosophy and its
integrated curriculum stress the values and traditions of a rich

Judaic heritage and highlight American democratic ideals while
preparing students to meet the challenges of living in
contemporary society; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Academy's graduates have the confidence
and skills to be knowledgeable and successful 21st century
citizens while proudly embracing and continuing the values of
the Judaic tradition; and
WHEREAS, Many students of The Silver Academy have become
community leaders and professional leaders who embody Jewish
pride in all of their endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Through its devoted and generous supporters, The
Silver Academy has been able to sustain the policy set forth by
Rabbi David L. Silver that no Jewish child who desires a Silver
Academy education is denied due to financial hardship; and
WHEREAS, The ongoing legacy of The Silver Academy is a
testament to the great wisdom of Rabbi David L. Silver and his
commitment to children, the Harrisburg community and the global
Jewish community; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the 70th anniversary of
The Silver Academy and honor the great works of Rabbi David L.
Silver and the school's faculty, staff, students and alumni.
