A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of November 2016 as "Small Business and
Shop Small Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The nation's progress, as well as the Commonwealth's
progress, has been driven by pioneers who think big, take risks
and work hard to create their own businesses; and
WHEREAS, From storefront shops that anchor our main streets
to high-tech startups that keep the country and the State on the
cutting edge, small businesses are the backbone of our economy;
and
WHEREAS, Small businesses create approximately two out of
every three new jobs in this country each year; and
WHEREAS, More than half of residents of the United States
either own or work for a small business; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses make up 98.2% of all employers in

this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania small businesses employ 2.4 million of
the Commonwealth's work force; and
WHEREAS, Most new jobs in this Commonwealth are created by
small businesses; and
WHEREAS, Nearly 1 million small businesses in this
Commonwealth produce billions of dollars in annual income,
including benefits; and
WHEREAS, Small business owners are anticipating more growth
and expansion this year; and
WHEREAS, When we support small businesses, jobs are created
and local communities thrive and grow; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of November 2016 as "Small Business and Shop Small Month"
in Pennsylvania.
