A RESOLUTION
Designating November 12, 2016, as "Pennsylvania Veterans Day of
Caring."
WHEREAS, Every year on November 11, the United States
dedicates the day to the remembrance and celebration of the
sacrifices that our veterans have made and still make to protect
our freedom as a country; and
WHEREAS, November 11 is devoted to remembering the men and
women of all branches of the United States Armed Forces who
serve their country; and
WHEREAS, There are approximately 950,000 veterans residing in
this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, As beneficiaries of the efforts and sacrifices of
our veterans, it seems fitting that the residents of this
Commonwealth honor and help the nation's veterans in any way

possible, for instance, by volunteering at a veterans' home,
assisting a veteran with household chores or lawn care or simply
spending the day talking to a veteran about his or her service;
and
WHEREAS, Many remembrance days have generated so much support
and reverence that our residents have been inspired by the idea
of doing more in celebration of this occasion; and
WHEREAS, Especially for days as important as Veterans Day, a
day that celebrates the men and women who have fought and
continue to fight to protect our freedoms, the House of
Representatives should follow suit by encouraging a day
dedicated to performing helpful and kind acts for this
Commonwealth's veterans; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
November 12, 2016, as "Pennsylvania Veterans Day of Caring"; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage the
residents of Pennsylvania to contribute a helping hand, in any
way they can, to veterans.
